项目摘要

本研究は1920-1945年の中国東北地域の綿織物業の構造とその変化を流通組織に焦点を当てて明らかにすること、具体的には、東北綿織物業において生産と流通の要の役割を果たした綿糸布商(糸房)の多面的な活動とそれを支えた金融ネットワーク(決済機構)について明らかにすることを目的としている。平成19年度は、研究実施計画通り、主としてアメリカと中国に所蔵されている資料調査を集中的に実施し、その整理を行った。アメリカでは、ナショナルアーカイブス(ワシントン)の満州関係資料を調査し、中国では北京第一歴史档案館と南京第二歴史档案館で資料収集を行った。なお、スタンフォリド大学フーバー研究所(カリフォルニア州)に所蔵されている資料については、アジア経済研究所にその一部の複写が所蔵されていたので当研究所の資料調査(私費)を実施した。以上の調査によって明らかになったのは、零細な綿織物業者の一定の発展は糸房の活動に負うところが大きかったという点である。調査対象とした奉天の糸房は綿糸商として綿織物業者(機房)に原料綿糸を前貸しによって供給した。そればかりか、糸房は同時に綿布商であり、染房(染色業者)や地方商人と取引関係をもった。糸房は綿織物生産・販売の要の役割を果たしたのである。糸房は業者数からいっても営業規模からいっても奉天の最有力商人であり、財東といわれる資本家と経理人(労務出資者、経営者)との共同経営によって営まれていた。有力糸房は聯号を形成し、奉天市内だけでなく他都市にも同系店舗を展開していた。その営業エリアは広大で奉天省の他、吉林、黒龍江省にまで達している。糸房の活動資金は近代的金融機関とともに聯号や財東、同郷者などの組織から調達された。以上の点については、その一部を『三田学会雑誌』に発表した。また、戦時期の糸房の解体過程を含め糸房の多面的な活動については現在分析と執筆を終え、学会誌に投稿中である。
