Ziel des Projektes ist eine monographische Darstellung von Fach- und Theoriengeschichte sowie aktuellem Theoriekorpus der Kommunikationswissenschaft in Frankreich (Sciences de I'information et de la communication). Im Zentrum der Analyse stehen semiotische, postmoderne, medienphilosophische, konstruktivistische und kritische Theorieansätze, die in Frankreich das Fach prägen. Wie in Deutschland ist die Kommunikationswissenschaft interdispziplinär orientiert, allerdings mit anderen theoretischen Schwerpunkten. Hier gilt es auch - wissenschaftssoziologisch - nach den Ursachen und Konsequenzen der Unterschiede innerhalb `nationaler' Wissenschaftstraditionen zu fragen.
