本年度は、以下の課題を中心に関連史料の収集・分析を行った。①日唐田令の比較検討…条文配列の変更を手がかりに、日唐における給田体系の違いとその背景について検討した。その結果、唐において官司組織への給田規定であったものが、日本においては官人個人への給田へと変更されるなど、律令導入時の社会実態を反映した改変が成されていることが明瞭となった。こうした改変にも関わらず、日本令は唐令の条文配列を遵守したため、条文の配列に意味上の錯誤を生じる結果となっている。唐令に対する深い理解をもって日本令の編纂が成されている一方で、独自の法体系を創出するには至らない状況が確認でき、古代日本の国家形成、および「律令国家」の国家像に迫る視角のひとつを提示しえた。②葬送形態からみた皇位継承…天皇陵にみられる合葬の事例に着目し、葬地の選定や造墓活動、埋葬の経緯から皇位継承をめぐる政治戦略について考察した。古墳時代社会において夫婦合葬は一般的な事象でないが、天皇陵においては先皇とその皇后との夫婦合葬の事例がいくつかみられる。そうした特異な合葬形態は、天皇家の家産継承に密接に関わるパフォーマンスと考えられることを指摘した。家産継承の視点は、これまでの皇位継承過程の研究に見られなかった独自の視点であり、関連史料の読み込みによって、その視角の有効性が確認できた。なお、古墳造営を含む造墓活動の意義については、考古学分野での議論を取り入れるべく、国内外の墳墓を研究対象とする考古学の専門家との交流を行った。以上の成果を含め、本年度は海外に向けた成果発信およびアウトリーチ活動に力を入れ、中国、ドイツ、アメリカにおいて研究成果の発表を行ったほか、高齢者向け講座での講演を複数回実施した。
