本研究は、日本古代国家の支配の特質を天皇への食料供給に着目して明らかにすることを目的とする。前年度までに、蔬菜・果樹類の生産・収取実態について検討をすすめ、蔬菜類の供給地である「園」、果樹類の供給地である「林」について、それぞれの特徴を考察した。本年度は、前年度の検討結果をふまえ、八～九世紀において天皇の活動を支える経済的基盤となっていた所領のうち、「田」に着目して、「園」・「林」との比較を念頭に分析・考察をおこなった。まず、天皇への供御供給地として唯一令文に規定をもつ令制官田について、その経営・存在形態と、どのような田地として構想されていたのかを検討した。その結果、①田令の官田規定は、中央の強い把握のもとでの運営を特徴とする唐の屯田制経営方式を官田経営に採用することを表明したものであること、②ミヤケに由来する田地とされる官田は、令制下においても、園や牧などと景観上隣接する複合的経営体の一部であること、③官田経営の労働力は、前代以来の関係を有する集団が国郡機構を介した雑徭によって差発され、宛てられていたこと等を指摘し、官田は血縁にかかわらず天皇位に就いた者に継承される財源として、田令によって新たに創出された地目であったと結論づけた。次の作業として、天皇の御料田であることが指摘されている「勅旨田」について、天皇の家産としてどのように位置づけられるかを検討するべく、研究史の整理と関連史料の分析をすすめている。これまでに析出した論点は、①八世紀中頃の「勅旨開田」がうかがえるとされている史料は、国司業務としての恒常的な土地開発事業に関わるものと考えられ、こうした開発地とは別に、令制以前から家産として経営されていたと思われる用益地が寺院等に施入されていること、②天皇家家産の施入などに関わる勅旨所は、紫微中台と連携して光明皇后の勅を奉じて活動していたが、紫微中台の解体後には家産を継承した孝謙太上天皇のもとで単独での奉勅機能を有する勅旨省となり、延暦年間には桓武天皇の家産管理機構として新たに設置されたとみられること、③九世紀初頭において、賜田の傾向と勅旨田設置の傾向は対比的な関係にあること等である。
