（１）先行研究レビューとベトナム労働・企業統計の分析：開発経済学、アジア経済論の先行研究を中心に集中的にレビューを実施。農業―工業（農村―都市）間の労働力移動に焦点を当てた二重経済論に関する先行研究の再検討、およびアジア経済研究所の1980年代～90年代のアジア工業化研究プロジェクトの諸成果のレビューを行った。また、1990年代以降の各種統計を用いた、データ整理・分析を行った。1990年代以降、急速に雇用労働力が拡大するとともに、2000年代後半以降に、輸出向け労働集約産業の独資外国企業の企業設立・雇用吸収がきわめて盛んになる一方で、大都市圏での不熟練労働の不足と大学卒業者の就職難という労働力のミスマッチを確認することができた。（２）ハノイ市内郊外農村調査：ハノイ市ドンアイン県およびザーラム県において基礎調査を実施した。計20か村の人民委員会（村役場）を訪問し、村長と経済担当幹部からのヒアリングを行った。ハノイ市中心部に隣接した郊外農村の社会経済状況と村民の就労傾向に関する基本情報を得た。とくに重要な知見は次のとおり。①工業団地造成の影響：工業団地が立地していない農村では、農業経営を維持しつつ、青年層が工業団地に就労している。他方、工業団地立地農村では、離農が進むが、工業団地では中高年層が就業できないという制約があり、また村内居住者の半数が外来者となるなど、社会経済構造が急変している。②地場中小企業の労働市場の変化：近年、生産技術の高度化とともに、弱小企業が倒産し、資本規模の大きい私企業の事業拡大が起きている。全体として吸収する労働力が縮小するとともに、季節雇用ではなく常時雇用が増えている。③農業変化：工業団地からの通勤距離にあるような農村では、工業団地による雇用増→収入増という過程のほか、成長する都市消費需要に対応した農業構造変化によって収入増を図っている。
