项目摘要

2015年5月20日から6月17日まで、小笠原諸島の父島および母島にてグリーンアノールの採集調査を行った。採集した個体の体サイズ、頭部形態、四肢の筋形態を計測し、島間での比較を行った。その結果、オスでは父島の集団よりも母島の集団の方が体サイズは大きいものの、相対的な頭幅は父島集団の方が大きくなっていること、メスでは島間にサイズの有意差がみられないこと、さらにオスでは四肢筋形態にも微小環境の違いを反映するような島間差があることがわかった。これらの結果から、父島と母島では集団の隔離からわずか30年で明確な形態差が生じていることと、その傾向が雌雄で異なることが示された。続いてその形態差を導いた生態学的要因を検討するため、オス間闘争の観察と生息環境の定量比較を行った。父島と母島で採集したオスを2個体ずつケージに入れ、闘争行動をビデオで撮影し、その勝敗を記録した。さらに統計モデルを用いて、その勝敗と形態形質との関係を各島で検討した。その結果、父島では頭幅を説明変数としたモデルが、母島ではSVLと頭長と咽頭垂長を説明変数としたモデルがそれぞれ最適なモデルとして選択された。すなわち、父島と母島の集団ではオス闘争の結果に寄与する形態が異なっていることが示された。さらにそれぞれの島において、闘争の勝敗に寄与する形質とオスでよく発達している形質とに対応関係が認められた。また野生集団の生息環境を比較した結果、父島に生息する個体は樹幹で、母島の個体は枝葉で観察される頻度が高かった。これらの違いは、父島集団における上腕後引筋の発達、母島集団における前腕内転筋の発達がそれぞれの生息する微小環境に適応的であることを示していると考えられる。以上の結果より、父島と母島のグリーンアノールにみられる集団間形態差は、オス闘争の様式の違い及び微小環境の違いによる影響を強く受けていることが示唆された。
