项目摘要

2022年度も過年度から引き続き、最終成果の取りまとめに向け、研究対象城下町において水系の設計論理の精緻化を図った。具体的には、過年度までに水系の役割として分類・整理した「内濠」「外濠」「その他の舟運路」ごとに、水害などの災害履歴と設計論理との関連や設計論理の時系列的変化について分析・考察を深めた。その内容は、まず内濠は、城郭を防衛するために開削される濠であり、設計にあたり城郭防衛の論理（縄張り）が最優先され、そのため地形条件を加味しつつも、防衛の論理から時には大規模な地形改変を伴うような設計がなされており、それらは城下町建設当初からの変化はなく、設計論理と水害との関係や設計論理の時系列的変化は見出せなかった。外濠は、内濠と同じく防衛の役割を持つ濠であるが、その開削位置については各城下町によって違いがあり、特に城下町の立地に大きな影響を受けており、防衛の論理に配慮しつつも、地形条件を加味した効率的な設計がなされていた。こうした外濠の建設にあたっては、河川の付け替えを伴う城下町もあり、治水を加味した設計がなされていた可能性が把握できた。加えて、内濠と異なり外濠は、防衛のみならず、武家地と町人地の境界としての役割や、舟運路および排水路としての役割も担っていたが、城下町建設当初から大きな変化はなく、時系列的変化は認められなかった。その他の舟運路については、地形および町人地との関係が開削位置に大きな影響を及ぼしていた。地形との関係では、主に微低地に舟運路が開削され、地形に則った効率的な設計がなされていた。また、町人地との関係では、各舟運路とも町人地の主要街路とのアクセスに配慮した設計がなされていた。これらの舟運路の設計論理と水害との関係は見出すことができなかったが、城下町の拡張に伴い開削された舟運路は、町割と整合して開削されたものもあり、設計論理の時系列的変化の可能性が把握できた。
