项目摘要

本研究は1690年から92年にかけて日本の長崎に滞在したドイツ・レムゴ出身のオランダ商館付き医師E.Kaempferが著した『日本誌』(Beschreibung und Geschichte von Japan, 1777)のドイツ語版編者てある18世紀プロイセンの官吏にして啓蒙主義者Chr.W.Dohmに着目し、両者の間に横たわる(1)思想史的変化を論証するとともに、(2)この変化の中にヨーロッパの合理主義が有する普遍主義の確立過程を検証しつつ、(3)ドームのユダヤ人に対する市民としての権利の保証をケンペルが評価したアシアの儒教思想にその根源を追求した試論てある。この中心的研究の端緒は、江戸幕府が行った「鎖国」に関する評価にある。17世紀の終わりに日本に滞在したケンペルが鎖国を国家の防御という観点からポジティヴに評価したのに対し、ドームは思想的観点からそれをネガティヴに捉えた。ヨーロッパ合理主義は科学技術を生み出し、法による人間解放をももたらしたが、一方儒教は技術を生み出す思想てはなかったが、人間の徳と善という考えにおいて精神的に人間解放の思想でもあった。啓蒙主義の法治主義と儒教の徳治主義が統冶思想としてどちらか優れているかの考察は別として、ドームが18世紀プロイセン・ベルリンのユダヤ人に市民としての権利を認知しようとした思想の背景には、法冶主義を超えたところにある儒教の朱子学に由来する人間本姓の徳・善に基づく徳治主義があったのてはないか。それはケンペルの『日本誌』の編纂作業の過程で知らずドームのユダヤ人解放思想の一端を形成したと推側される。現在、この論証のための緒についたところである。
