本研究は、脱植民地化期のペルシャ湾南岸とイギリス帝国の関係に着目した国際政治史の研究である。特に、1971年に誕生したアラブ首長国連邦（UAE）、カタール、バーレーンの三国の成立過程を、イギリス帝国の解体とアジア・アフリカ地域の脱植民地化という世界史的な動態から読み直すことを目的とした。これまでの研究では、イギリス帝国史研究など西洋史の分野と、中東研究や東洋史の分野の間で議論が断絶する傾向にあった。西洋史と東洋史の間で分断されてきた先行研究に対し、本研究は、マルチ・アーカイブス的な手法に基づき、三国の誕生に至るまでの国際政治状況を重層的に分析することで新しい視角を提示することを目指した。本研究は平成23年度から25年度までの3年間の個人研究として計画された。このうち初めの二年間は、当初の予定以上に順調に研究が進んだ。当初の計画では、一年目に20世紀半ばの国際政治状況を整理し、二年目に1971年までの重層的な外交関係の発展を明らかにし、三年目に外交だけでなくより幅広い社会的・文化的・経済的な文脈を検討することを予定していた。しかし、フィールドワークや資料調査が計画していた以上に順調に進展したために計画を前倒しし、二年目の後半からは三年目の作業に着手した。こうした調査に基づき、順次研究成果を学国内・海外に向けて発信した。複数の国際学会で発表して議論を精査し、共編著や査読付き国際誌で発表した。三年目の25年度は、申請者が特別研究員として採用されたために制度的には廃止された。二年目までの成果を大きくまとめるまでの廃止ではあったが、当初の計画を前倒しして順調に進めていた本研究の成果を、25年度からは新しい立場で発展させている。本研究で模索した学際的な手法により、ナショナリズムの桎梏や支配従属の二元論を超越した新しい視角を提示したい。

This study focuses on the study of the relationship between the southern coast and the western empire during the period of decolonization. The history of the Western world is divided into two parts. This study focuses on the analysis of the international political situation from the birth of the Three Kingdoms to the new perspective. This study is a 3-year individual research project from 23 to 25 years of Heisei. In the first two years of this period, the research on the sequence of the initial period and the predetermined period has been carried out. In the first two years, the international political situation in the first half of the 20th century was sorted out, and in the second two years, the development of multi-layered diplomatic relations in 1971 was discussed. The data survey was conducted in the first half of the year and the second half of the year. The basic research results of this research are reported to the domestic and overseas departments. A number of international societies have published a detailed review of the discussion and a compilation of international journals. For three years and 25 years, the applicant has been a special researcher. The results of this research in 2002 are expected to be developed in 2005 from a new perspective. This research explores the academic approach and provides a new perspective that transcends the shackles of the Nasirikan family and the dualism of dominance.
