【研究の目的】本研究は、ペルシャ湾岸諸国の現代史についての研究である。1971年までにペルシャ湾岸諸国が独立を達成するまでの政治や社会の変化を、アジア・アフリカ地域の近代化とイギリス帝国の盛衰という世界史的動態から読み直す。特に三つの研究の目的を設定した。(1)初期状況の把握(2)重層的な外交関係の検討(3)重層的な社会関係の検討【研究実施計画】この目的を踏まえて、具体的には三つの軸から作業を行うことを掲げた。(ア)これまでに収集した資料の検討(イ)新たな一次資料の収集(ウ)成果発表これらが、三年間の研究で達成されるべき課題であった。当該年度は、三年間の研究の初年にあたる。よって当該年度の研究実施計画では、まず(ア)に集中して、次に(イ)の作業を行うこと掲げた。【研究実績】まず(ア)については、これまでに収集したイギリス国立公文書館とUAE国立公文書館の資料の検討を行った。さらに、各関係者が残した一次資料や二次資料の検討も行う。次に(イ)については、新たなイギリス政府の内部文書(特に外務省と植民地省の資料)を検討した。しかも、UAE国立公文書館での資料調査も行い、オーラル・ヒストリー調査も開始することが出来た。まず一次資料の調査がここまで順調に進むことは、当初の予定を上回る成果であった。さらに、当該年度中には大きな成果を期待していなかった(ウ)についても、各種研究会や学会などで発表を行い、さらにその成果を原著論文として発表することが出来た。最後に、スピン・オフ企画として、本研究から得られた「国際社会の標準化」という概念を発展させて別の事象に援用した論文も国際的な査読付き学術雑誌に掲載された。

The UAE National Library's data survey is in progress, and the survey starts. The results of the first data survey are as follows: In addition, in the middle of the year, the results of various research institutes are expected to be published, and the results of original papers are expected to be published. Finally, this study found that the concept of "international community standardization" was developed and applied to international research and academic journals.
