本研究の目的は、看護の大理論を適用し、障害児療育支援における看護の専門性を解明することである。現在、オレム看護理論、キング看護理論、ローパー・ローガン・ティアニー看護理論、ロジャーズ看護理論を収集した。理論の概要の分析は以下のとおりである。オレム看護理論は、人間はセルフケアエージェンシーのある存在であり、治療的セルフケアデマンドがセルフケアエージェンシーを上回りセルフケアが自力でできないときに看護が必要となると、述べていた。これは、人間はもともと持てる力がある存在であると述べ、その人が自分でセルフケアをできるように関わることが看護であるという看護の目的を明解にした点が特徴である。ロイ看護理論は、人間をシステムと位置付けて、人間の行動にはそれを引き起こす刺激があり、その刺激が人間のシステムを介した結果が行動として表れているとし、看護はその刺激のコントロールであると述べた。これは、その時々の患者の今だけを見るのではなく、時の流れとの関係で見るという視点に特徴があると考えられる。ロジャーズ看護理論は、人間をユニタリ・ヒューマン・ビーイングズと表現し、統一体として見るという見方を初めて世に示した。物理学に基づき、人間は、環境と相互作用をしながら、その人なりのパターンを形成していると述べた。そして、看護はそのパターンを認識し、環境との相互作用を助けていくことと述べていた、　それぞれの理論は、その理論の人間観に基づき看護の目的が定められ、その目的を達成するための方法論が述べられていた。つまり、看護の枠組みとして取り出すときに、方法だけを取り出しては理論家の述べた理論の適用にはならず、人間観や目的論の理解を前提に適用する必要があることが分かった。
