2009年度は、これまでに収集した史料を精読・分析し、論文を執筆する作業に重点をおいた。具体的なテーマとしては、植民地朝鮮における教員の位置づけを再検討することを目的とした論考や、教員の思想問題、植民地教育の中で行なわれていた「内地」教育と教員の「内地」経験について論じた。これらの論考を通じ、植民地における教員集団の構造と実態が明らかとなった点は、今年度における大きな成果であった。今年度発表した論文の内容は以下のとおりである。(1)帝国の「周縁」である植民地において、その「中心」たる「内地」のイメージがどのように形成されていたのか、また、その際教員がどのような役割を果たしたのかということに関する論文を執筆した。特に、植民地教育政策の戦略として、教員に直接の「内地」経験が求められていたことを明らかにした。(2)日本のアジア植民地支配の中で、「皇民化教育」や「同化教育」の「担い手」としての側面のみから説明・把握されてきた従来の教員の位置づけについて再考を迫った論文を執筆した。具体的には、教員の思想問題や教員不足、招聘事業の停滞など、植民地支配にある種の停滞と綻びをもたらしていた側面について論じ、従来の植民地教員の位置づけに一石を投じた。(3)教員の思想問題についての論文を執筆した。日本の朝鮮における植民地政策の中でも、初等学校は、朝鮮人に日本語を習得させるために重要視された教育機関であった。こうした植民地経営上重要な場における教員たちの「不穏思想」に着目し、その内容・顛末を明らかにした。ある面では植民地権力側の人間であった教員は、一方で、朝鮮人児童の民族意識育成・伝達を秘密裏に行ない続けたという側面も有していた。こうした教員の両面性に着目した本稿の成果は、教育を通じた日本の植民地政策の実態に迫るうえで重要である。
