项目摘要

本研究の目的は、ゲルク派の創始者ツォンカパの時間論と業報思想についての考察を通じて彼がインド仏教中観帰謬派の思想体系をどのように解釈しているか明らかにすることである。本年度はまず彼の『中論大註』および講義録『現量章疏』に依拠して、時間に関する表現の問題について検討した。彼は未来を「事物の未生起状態」と定義し、過去を「事物の消滅状態」と定義する。その結果、三つの時間は話者の属する時間とは無関係に措定され、無時制的な時間表現が可能となる。以上のことを英語論文"Tsong kha pa on the Three Times: New Light on the Buddhist Theory of Time"としてまとめた。つぎに、ツォンカパの『密意解明』に依拠して、彼が自身の時間論を応用して独自の業報思想解釈を展開している点を解明した。彼によれば過去になされた業は「業の消滅状態」として存在しており、その消滅状態が中観帰謬派の学説では効果的事物(結果を生み出す能力を具えた存在)とされる。それゆえ、ツォンカパが理解する帰謬派の学説では、唯識派が説くようなアーラヤ識の存在を前提とする業異熟の理論ではなく、業の消滅状態そのものが果をもたらすのだという独特の理論が採用される。以上のことを英語論文"Tsong kha pa on the Madhyamakavatara VI 39"として発表した。ツォンカパや後代のゲルク派の時間論を解明するためには、チベット語意味論の観点からの分析が必要である。本年度は「ドゥラ」とよばれる問答の手引書を精査し、チベット語の限定詞kho naが適用された場合にどのような命題解釈ができるか、特にrtag pa kho na(「常住なものだけ」)の有無をめぐる議論について考察した。その成果を第14回世界サンスクリット学会にて発表した。
