项目摘要

2010年度は、シリア青銅器時代のテル・ガーネム・アル・アリ遺跡において、新たにもうけた第7、第8トレンチより植物分析用の土壌サンプリングとフローテーションを行った。そのサンプルから見つかった植物遺存体を分析すると、前年度までに発掘されたト第2、第3トレンチの植物と比べて、穀類の脱穀残滓と思われる穂軸などが少ないこと、炭化材の量が多いことなどに違いがみられた。他の区域とは異なる人間活動、及び異なる燃料の選択を示す証拠といえる。タンノールとよばれるパン調理施設が集中していることから、調理に特化した場所であったと考えられる。建物に使われている石材も、他のトレンチの一般住居とは異なり、当時の生産配分の在り方や、集落単位での調理活動があったことが示唆される。さらに、テル・ガーネム・アル・アリ遺跡近くの同時期の墓についても、発掘とサンプリングを行った。しかし、墓室内からの炭化物はごくわずかで、分析に耐えるだけの植物遺存体を回収するには至らなかった。ただし、最近墓室内に入り込んだアリが集積した現生植物(トウガラシ、ブドウ、カラスムギなどの種子)をサンプリングした。これは、遺跡からの炭化植物遺存体を解釈する際、アリによるコンタミネーションの程度を調べる指標として利用できる。これまでの成果は、5月～6月にドイツのヴィルヘルムスハーフェンで行われた、国際植物考古学会(International Work Group of Palaeoethnobotany)において発表した。
