本研究では、1)スピリチュアリティという宗教的実践の身体経験によって生じた人生に対する価値観の変容に着目し、スピリチュアリティのもつ癒しの機能について明らかにし、2)癒しの視点から、スピリチュアリティという実践を宗教と医療の両領域から総合的に考察することを目的としている。最終的には、心療内科系疾患の患者に対して、スピリチュアルな身体経験を通じた癒しの可能性を提唱することを目指している。本年度は以下のような活動を行った。1、研究成果の発表2008年度に実施した宗教的実践としてのスピリチュアリティに関する現地調査の結果を2本の論文にまとめ、出版された。さらに、現代英国におけるスピリチュアリティの実践について、日本文化人類学会で報告した。2、英国グラストンベリーでのフィールドワーク・2009年4月～5月:公的な医療制度の中でのスピリチュアリティの実践の調査のため、公的な医療従事者へのインタビューと、チャプレンなど病院における宗教的活動の実践に関して、観察を行った。・2009年6月:英国人のスピリチュアリティについてよりよく理解するため、英国の一般的な日常生活に関する調査を行った。具体的には、銀行・郵便局・定期市のしくみやサービスの種類、庭づくりに関する考え方などを調査した。・2009年7月～8月(科学研究費補助金使用):当地でおこなわれたヒーリング・ワークショップにおいて、参加者に対してスピリチュアリティ体験のインタビューと参与観察を行った。ヒーリング関係の雑誌の調査をおこなった。・2009年8月～:コミュニティと癒しについて探るため、二つの宗教的なグループ及び夏に参加したヒーリング・ワークショップの定期的な集まりに継続的に参加し、そこで交わされる会話について参与観察をおこなっている。また、文化人類学等の基本文献の精読、図書館において当地の歴史的資料の収集も実施している。また、調査を行いながら、データの整理と分析も同時に進めている。
