Economic Integration in East Asia and the Globalization of the Firms in Developing Countries-A Case of Malaysian Firms

双边、多边和区域自由贸易协定（FTA）促进了东亚经济一体化。这些现象加速了区域贸易和外国直接投资，特别是发展中国家的当地企业。人们注意到了基于比较优势的外国直接投资，这一地区也是如此。然而，在与发达国家的跨国公司的关系基础上的新型外国直接投资也主要出现在电子和汽车行业。这些当地公司通过与大型跨国公司的交易获得了技术等新资源。

The economic integration in east Asia was enhanced by the bilateral, multilateral and regional FTAs (Free Trade Agreements). These phenomena accelerated the regional trade and FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), especially by local firms in developing countries. FDI based on the comparative advantage was observed as it was also seen in this region. However, the new type of FDI based on the relationship with MNCs (Multinational Corporations) from developed countries was also observed mainly in the electronics and automobile industries. These local firms acquired new resources such as technology through the transaction with big MNCs.
