Basic Research for the study and publication of materials for children's culture in the collection of Prof. Hiroyuki Tomita

In this research, we classified an extensive volume of documentary materials (7,837 items) and newspaper clippings (12,317 items) about children's theatre and drama education in Japan, collected by Prof. Hiroyuki Tomita (1922-1994). It should widely serve as primary sources for researching the changes of children's culture in future.By building a database and re-classifying the materials under new categorization method, we made clear the whole picture of the collection, and, at the same time, we could re-acknowledge its true historical value.
