Technology that embeds digital data into musical or speech signals inaudibly was developed. The embedded signals were reproduced from loudspeakers and were received by a microphone to extract the embedded data. In order to examine effectiveness and usefulness of the technology, the system was evaluated in terms of data transmission rate and sound quality degradation in reverberant and noisy space. The results showed that sound quality degradation of speech and musical signals that were embedded data was not so severe. In addition, embedded data were successfully transmitted via speech signals encoded by the cellular phone.
