Focusing on a seismic hazard, we studied the present conditions of comprehension and utilization of hazard information in the process of urban planning and community development. Two main research targets are 1) risk communication and behavioral modification of residents in a local community and 2) municipal planning for disaster mitigation based on the intra-government risk communication.
