Ralstonia solanacearum, the causal agent of bacterial wilt on solanaceous plants, injects virulence effector proteins into host plant cells via a type III secretion system to cause disease. In this study, we found that R. solanacearum possesses over 70 type III effectors. We constructed a series of recombinant plants and yeasts that express individual effector protein and identified effector proteins that show an ability to suppress vesicular trafficking in eukaryote cells.
