Linguistic features and acquisition process of emotional expression in writing and speaking by Japanese learners of English

本研究观察了以英语为第一语言和第二语言的写作和口语在情感表达上的异同。本研究通过产生式实验考察了英语和日本大学生对情感表达的使用情况。在写作实验中，两组受试者被要求写一封情书和一封慰问信。我们观察到英语本族语者和日语习得者的字母书写模式各有不同的特点。在口语实验中，所有受试者被要求阅读一封情书和一封慰问信，以制作磁带信件。结果表明，日语学习者更容易表达哀悼情绪，而不是情感情感。

This study observed the similarities and differences in emotional expressions regarding writing and speaking by English as the first and a second language. Production experiments were carried out to investigate the usage of emotional expressions by native speakers of English and Japanese college students. In the writing experiment, the two groups of subjects were instructed to write a love letter and a letter of condolence. We observed different features in the patterns of the letters written by the native speakers of English and those by the Japanese learners respectively. In the speaking experiment, all the subjects were instructed to read a love letter and a letter of condolence to make tape letters. The results indicated that it was easier for the Japanese learners to express the emotion of condolence than emotion of affection.
