Family Structure and Kin Relationships in Contemporary Japan : childcare support and residential proximity between grandparents and children

本文旨在以历史社会学研究为基础，阐明当代日本家庭与亲属关系的特征。由于这是一个长期的项目，所以这次需要从实证的角度来研究，重点关注居住模式、祖父母与子女的居住距离、亲属的托儿支持以及他们的家庭形象。因此，虽然大家庭非常罕见，但已婚的孩子经常住在父母住的附近城镇。祖父母，尤其是母亲的母亲，承担着照顾女儿的责任。它不仅产生于传统的家庭规范，而且产生于一般的母女关系。

We aim at elucidating the characteristics of contemporary Japanese family and kin relationships based on historical sociological ie study. As it is a long project, this time it needs to be approached from the empirical method, focusing on residential pattern, residential proximity between grandparents and children, and childcare support from the kin members as well as their family image. As a result, though the extended family is very rare, married children often reside in the near town whose parents live in. Grandparents, especially mothers' mothers, support their daughters' childcare. It arises not only from the traditional family norm, but also from the general mother-daughter relationships.
