Effects of capsaicin or gingerol on preventing the onset and progression of hypertension

在我们以前的研究中，我们观察到急性推注低剂量辣椒素和姜辣素通过香草素受体刺激降低血压（BP）并舒张血管。本研究观察了辣椒素和生姜提取物对肾血管性高血压模型大鼠血压和主动脉形态及功能的慢性影响。各饮食均能减轻高血压模型大鼠的血压升高、主动脉中膜厚度和主动脉血管舒张功能的下降，提示辣椒素和含姜辣素的生姜提取物对高血压的发生和发展具有预防作用。

In our previous study, we observed that acute bolus injections of low-dose capsaicin and gingerol decreased blood pressure(BP) with vasodilation via vanilloid receptor-stimulation. In this study, we observed the chronic effects of dietary intake of capsaicin and ginger extract, which contains much gingerol, on BP and aortic morphology and function in renovascular hypertensive model rats. Each diet alleviated the BP elevation, as well as aortic media thickness and the decrements in aortic vasodilation, in the hypertensive model rats, suggesting that dietary intake of capsaicin and ginger extract containing gingerol may have a preventive effect on the onset and development of this kind of hypertension.
