In the culture tests using human osteoblast-like cells, the expression of osteopontin on bioactive PEEK in 3 weeks was significantly higher than on non-active PEEK. The pull-out tests of PEEK samples from the tibia in rabbits showed no significant differences in 12 weeks. Bioactive PEEK accelerated calcification in osteoblast-like cells
