Mierkamali氏との共同研究は、順調に進んだが、本年度は、カザフ語の文法組織の枠組みを決定することに主眼をおいた。というのは、カザフ語はウイグル語と同じような伝統的な品詞分類をとっているが、それではカザフ語の品詞全体を覆うことができず、構文的な分析ができないところが多く出てくるからである。しかし、一つの言語のあらゆる表現パターンを考え出すことはたいへんな労力と時間がかかるため、品詞分類全体の構造を明らかにすることはたいへん難しいことであった。伝統的な文法組織は不備な点はあるとはいえ、カザフ語話者の実感に沿った部分も多く、できるかぎり伝統的な分類法を生かすようにした。カザフ語の品詞は、大きく(1)独立語、(2)関係詞、(3)付属語、(4)文構成詞の4つにわけた(名称はまだ仮の名称である)。さらに、(1)独立語は、名詞、数詞、代名詞、形容詞、動詞、副詞、存在詞、感嘆詞の8つに、(2)関係詞は接続詞、後置詞、限定詞の3つに、(3)付属語はさらに大きく(1)接辞、(2)他品詞派生語尾の2つに分けた上で、(1)接辞は人称接辞と一般接辞に、(2)他品詞派生語尾は名詞派生、動詞派生、形容詞派生に分けた。(4)文構成詞は語気詞、陳述詞の2つに分けた。これらは文的基準と語彙的基準の混淆した分析方法になるので、理論的には不整合なところがあるが、この分類法によって、ほとんどのカザフ語の文章は品詞分析が可能と判断した。この分類法は、おそらく他のアルタイ系言語にも適用できるのではないかと思うが、同時に、日本語にも適用できる可能性があり、あらために日本語文法とのすりあわせをしてゆく必要もある。MIERKEMALI氏は共同研究以外に、新彊の山奥のカザフ語方言の調査も行った。また、敦煌出土の古代ウイグル語の文献とプリンストン大学所蔵の古代文献の分析も行い、かずかずの成果を挙げた。
