项目摘要

今年度は、研究基盤となるデータベース構築および文化現象研究のための方法論の体系化を試みた。まず、データベース構築では、主として、滋賀県における古代瓦データベースおよび岐阜県における縄文遺跡データベースの設計・構築を行った。これらは、ISO 19100シリーズ(地理情報標準)と呼ばれる国際標準に準じて設計されている。方法論の体系化においては、これまでに開発を行なってきた、分子進化遺伝学における系統樹作成手法とGISを組み合わせた形質構造分析、楕円フーリエ記述子(EFD : Elliptic Fourier Descriptor)を用いた空間形状分析、グラフ理論をベースにした時間位相分析、および標準化圧縮距離(NCD : Normalized compression Distance)を用いた形質属性分析、についてマックス・ウェーバーの理念型分析をベースに体系化を試みた。また、体系化した方法論を「理念型モデル化分析法(ITMA : Ideal Types Modeling and Analysis)」と名付け、方言研究や美術史研究といった多方面への応用についても検討を行った。この方法論は、近年の人文社会科学における手法の乱立を防ぐと同時に、伝統的な手法と情報科学の融合化を可能とする方法である。この方法論は、今後、情報技術と駆使した文化現象研究を実現するための枠組みとして重要な役割を果たすと考えている。今年度は、5月20日から11月20日にかけて、英国のユニバーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドン(UCL)に留学の機会を得ることができ、現地の若手研究者らとITMAについて長期的に議論する機会を得た。英国においては、エージェント・ベース・モデル(ABM)と呼ばれるシミュレーション技術を用いた研究が注目されており、ITMAとABMを組み合わせた方法についての示唆を受けた。現在、ITMAに興味を持った同世代の研究者の一人とABMとITMAを組み合わせた方法論について共同研究を行っている。
