当該年度は,昨年度まで行っていたナミビア北部のモパネ植生帯における植生とシロアリ塚の関わりに関する調査・研究に加え,ナミビアにおいて近年活発になっている自然保護,特に森林保護区(コミュニティーフォレスト)の調査を行った.ナミビアは豊富な動植物をもつ国として知られ,自然を求めて他国からも観光客が訪れる,1990年の独立以前から国立公園が設置され,独立以降は特に北部の共有地がその対象となってきた.野生動物保護区は1990年代から北部の各地に設置され,野生動物の保護と地域の発展が図られる。2000年代からはより住民参加に重点を置いた森林保護区政策が始まった.調査地であるナミビア北東部のM村も2008年にコミュニティーを含む地域の森林が保護区に制定され,選挙によって選ばれた数人の委員を中心にその活動が行われている.保護区として制定された地域では,キャンプサイトの運営や植林・木材販売,燃料の販売など地域住民が活動を決め,森林局の管理・援助のもとに行う.これらの保護区活動から得た利益はコミュニティーの道路建設や貯水タンクの設置,活動資金として利用される.コミュニティーの成員は木材伐採の許可の取得などが科せられる.しかし,調査を行った2009年10月から2010年12月の間,ムヤコでの保護区活動は順調に進んでいるとは言えない状況である.保護区やその活動の認知度も低く,樹木の違法伐採や委員の人手不足,負担の多さなどから活動自体が滞りがちである.また,地域住民による建材としての木材利用などからみると,森林資源の利用は破壊的ではないものの,人口増加や生活様式の変化などから持続的な利用であるとも言い難いことが調査から明らかになった.以上から,これまで行ってきた植生の動態を明らかにする生態学的な調査を行いながら,地域での資源利用や自然保護などの活動を見て行くことで,自然と人の共生を考え,今後ナミビアにおいてもますます活発化するであろう,住民参加型の自然保護活動などにも貢献していきたい.

During the year, last year, in the northern part of the country, there was an increase in the study of plant health in the north. Before independence in 1990, it was established that the national public trust was set up in order to protect the common land in the northern part of the island. In the 1990s, wild animal protection areas have set up traps in various parts of the northern part of the mountain, and wild animal protection areas have been protected and exhibitions have been held. In the 2000's, residents participated in the policy of forest protection areas. In 2008, the villages of the northern part of the city, including regional forest protection areas, set up a policy, and selected several members of the committee center to carry out activities in the center. In the protection area, the local residents' activities are decided, and the forest management and assistance industry is managed by the Forestry Bureau. The activities in the protection area will benefit from the benefits, the construction of roads, the installation of water supply facilities, and the use of financial assistance for activities. During the period from October 2009 to December 2010, the activities in the insurance area are in progress. In the protection area, there is a low level of awareness of the activities, and there is a shortage of staff in the forest felling committee, so it is necessary to carry out multiple activities and self-training activities. Regional residents, residents, building materials, timber, forest resources, forest resources and forest resources. In the case of the above, the plant dynamics, plant dynamics, health science, regional environmental resources, and the symbiosis of natural animals and humans are used.
