项目摘要

本研究は、近世海村における個人のライフコースの解明を目的としている。本年度は、婚外子のライフコースを検討した。まず死亡に関しては、女子において婚内子と婚外子との間に統計的有意差がみられた。より詳細にその差をみていくと、「婚内子と母親のみ特定できる子ども」と、「父親のみ特定できる子どもと両親を特定できない子ども」との間で生存率に差が生じており、前者よりも後者の生存率が低い状態にあった。次に婚外子が婚内子と同じように結婚していたのかを検証すると、ここでも婚内子と婚外子との間に差がみられた。つまり、性別を問わず、婚内子に比べて婚外子は結婚しにくい環境に置かれていた。そして死亡の比較の際にもみられた二極化が初婚に関しても確認され、婚内子と母親のみ特定できる子どもは、その他の婚外子に比べて、結婚する割合が高かった。最後に戸主経験(世帯の筆頭者)から婚内子と婚外子の違いを検討した。野母村では戸主の大半が男子であるため、ここでは男子に分析を限定した。その結果、戸主経験の割合については、婚内子と婚外子との間に明確な差はみられなかった。婚内子、婚外子を問わず、30代後半において、約半数が一度は戸主になっていた。これらの分析結果から、近世後期の野母村においては、婚内子と婚外子の歩んでいくライフコースは異なっていたことが明らかになった。しかし、一概に婚内子と婚外子のライフコースが違うとは言えない。なぜなら婚外子のなかでも母親のみ特定できる子どもは、婚内子と同じように結婚し、戸主となっていた。これは、野母村における出生が先行し、その後世帯を移すという結婚パターンを反映しており、その過程のなかで生まれた子どもたちは婚内子と同じ扱いを受けていたと言える。その一方で出生時に父親しかいない子ども、両親がいない子どもは、死亡と結婚に関しては婚内子と比べて厳しい環境に置かれていたことが明らかになった。
