本年度は、イーシュヴァラクリシュナ(4-5c)著『サーンキヤ頒』(Samkhyakarika,SK)に対する注釈書『論理の灯火』(Yuktidipika,YD)(ca.680-720)における認識論解明の総仕上げとして、正しい認識手段(pramana)の一つ<信頼できることば>(aptavacana)に焦点を当てた。この<信頼できることば>はSK第5偈にて"aptasruti"と換言されるが、YDはその"aptasruti"に対して三種の複合語解釈を示す。第一は、人為でないヴェーダを<信頼できることば>に含める解釈、第二は、ヴェーダ以外の人間の手に成る聖典や教養文化人(sista)など世間的な人物の言明を含める解釈、第三は、一語残留規則(ekasesa)を用いて上記二解釈を折衷する解釈をとっていた。SK第2偈で示されるように、サーンキヤはバラモン正統哲学の一派としては例外的にヴェーダ供儀に対して懐疑的な姿勢を示しているが,YDはそのような純粋な意味では正統派とは呼びがたいサーンキヤの伝統から踵を返し、<信頼できることば>に対してSKが与える定義的特質はヴェーダも含意しうることを理論的に示すことによって他の正統哲学諸派との折り合いをつけようとしたことが、この複合語解釈から窺知される。その姿勢を裏付けるためにも、YDがaptaをいかに位置づけているのかを検討した。この問題はヴェーダの非人為性,すなわちaptaは「信頼できる」という形容詞として解釈すべきか、「信頼できる人」として解釈すべきか、という議論とも密接に関連する。形容詞の場合には上記第一解釈、「人」の場合には上記第二解釈に相当する。YDにおけるaptaおよびaptavacanaの位置づけをすべて検討した結果、YDにおける本来的なaptaの用法としては、「信頼できる人」、とりわけ世間的に信頼できる人物を念頭におき、日常生活を営む上での試金石ともいうべき位置づけを与えていたものと結論づけた。本研究のこの成果は、仏教思想学会(於東洋大学)、日本印度学仏教学会(於龍谷大学)、インド思想史学会(於京都大学)にて口頭発表し、論文としても発表した。
