Cultural Anthropological Studies on the Relationship among the Ainu, Euro-American Researchers and Agent Persons in Hokkaido in the 1900's

阿伊努人是日本的土著民族，由于高加索人和阿伊努人的身体特征相似，欧洲科学家一直对他们的特征和文化感兴趣。从19世纪末到20世纪初，许多科学家访问和收集了阿伊努人的材料。此外，大量的文件，如田野笔记，日记和信件，被留在欧洲和美国的博物馆和档案馆。我们关注他们在文件上写的东西，并分析内容，从实用的角度描述研究人员与当时的阿伊努人之间发生的事情。

The Ainu are an indigenous people of Japan and European scientists had been interested in their features and culture because of the similarity of physical features between Caucasians and the Ainu. Many scientists visited and collected Ainu materials from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Also huge numbers of documents like field notes, diaries and correspondences were left in European and American museums and archives. We pay attention to what they wrote on the documents and analyze the contents to describe what had been happened between researchers and the Ainu at that time from practical viewpoints.
