今年度の研究では20世紀前半日本で行われた朝鮮・韓国人の音楽活動に関して日本・韓国に残された新聞や雑誌記事、写真・SPレコードなどの資料を収集、分析、そして関係者とのインタービューを行った。又、朝鮮・韓国人の音楽活動の日本公演が韓国近代音楽史、公演文化史、そして在日朝鮮・韓国人の音楽文化に与えた影響について考察した。その具体的な研究成果は次のようなものである。・20世紀前半日本で行われた朝鮮・韓国の音楽公演を主に担当していた妓生の公演への参加者、参加経緯、公演内容、公演場所が分かるようになった。日本で開催された博覧会等の舞台、日本各地の劇場舞台等で行われた妓生の公演は、近代芸術として当時朝鮮で創作された樂曲が含まれていたにも関わらず、古典的、女性的なイメージのみが強調された。・1920年代、朝鮮の宮廷音楽が日本で紹介され、学者、芸術家等の注目を引くようになり、1930年代以降には多様な朝鮮・韓国の音楽が日本で公演された。その背後には学問的な関心や、伝統の保存を目的とする以外に、市場開拓というレコード産業の影響もあった。・20世紀前半日本で行われた朝鮮・韓国の音楽公演は近代朝鮮に新しく流入された劇場文化に合うよう、伝統音楽を再創作する過程に影響を与えた。その一例として朝鮮の貴族音楽の正樂が日本公演をきっかけとして公演音楽化されたことが揚げられる。以上述べたように、本研究は朝鮮・韓国の伝統音楽の近代化に日本で行われた朝鮮・韓国の音楽公演が与えた影響を明らかにした。このような研究の意義は韓国近代音楽文化に対しての新たな論議の場を開拓した事にあろう。更に本研究は、音楽を通し、20世紀前期日本の文化が外国文化に接触(contact)し、いかにして影響を与えたかに関する考察となり、近代アジア国家の間に起きた文化交流と音楽の変化に関する論議としてその重要性が認められる。
