项目摘要

本年度は、南北朝時代成立の絵巻「弘法大師行状絵」(東寺所蔵)巻十一第一段「東寺灌頂」に注目しながら、真言宗の中核的法会である東寺の伝法灌頂および結縁灌頂について検討し、真言宗内における東寺と醍醐寺・仁和寺の関係性の一端を明らかにした。また、「東寺観智院金剛蔵聖教」からの関連史料の収集・整理作業をふまえ、本年度は特に、東寺の碩学として有名な頼宝・杲宝・賢宝による「大日経疏」の修学実態について分析した。そして、真言宗内で、事相(祈祷)を前面に掲げる醍醐寺・仁和寺に対し、東寺が教相(教義)によりながら独自性を主張しようとした内実と、教相を通じた東寺と醍醐寺との交流実態について明らかにした。さらに、醍醐寺僧が「東寺」教団に帰属することを自認していた事実を明らかにした前稿をふまえ、東寺や仁和寺、東大寺などの諸寺院との関わりの中で活躍した醍醐寺僧勝賢が、「東寺」教団の発展にいかに貢献したのかについても現在検討中である。以上が本年度における研究成果である。事相(祈祷)と教相(教義)という二つの側面から真言宗の法会の実態を跡づけることは、真言宗史の解明に不可欠である。また、個別寺院としての東寺をめぐる従来の膨大な研究に対し、東寺・醍醐寺・仁和寺を主柱とする「東寺」教団という視点からの本研究は、真言宗の構造を抜本的に見直す上で重要な意味をもつ。なお、前年度より引き続き、醍醐寺や金沢文庫、石川県輪島市の真言宗寺院の史料調査にも参加し、畿内の寺院と地方寺院との関わりにも留意しながら研究を遂行した。
