项目摘要

本研究員の本年度における研究は、年度始めの計画に沿ってほぼ計画通りに進められた。成果として具体的には以下の三点が挙げられる。まず一点目として、昨年度から引き続き行っている、イングランド、スコットランド、アイルランドの都市・城砦守備隊に関するデータベースの完成、二点目として、スコットランドの守備隊に関する史料調査と分析、三点目として、二点目の成果に基づきイングランドとスコットランドの事例を総合する形での軍隊-地域社会関係の考察である。二点目、三点目については、2012年9月にイギリスで2週間の調査を行い、そこで収集した手稿史料と、活字化されている救貧関連文書および兵士の自叙伝を組み合わせて利用することにより、17世紀後半から18世紀イギリスの陸軍兵士と地域社会との交流に関する分析、彼らとその家族についての社会史的考察に取り組んだ。その成果については、すでに近現代史研究会、イギリス革命史研究会で口頭報告を行っており、さらに近日中に論文としてまとめ、学術雑誌に発表することが予定されている。また、本研究プロジェクトにおいて、スコットランドと並ぶ考察対象であるアイルランドについても、本研究員は、本年度中にゴールウェイとウォーターフォードについて史料収集・分析を終え、現在ダブリンについての検討を進めているところである。その成果は、2013年中に事例研究としてまとめるとともに、あわせてプロジェクト全体の分析結果についても口頭報告および論文の形で発表を進めていきたい。
