本研究の目的は、ペルー北海岸において過去に対する認識の分析から一般の人々へのアプローチ法を確立し、「文化遺産保護」モデルの実現に向けた道筋を構築することである。近年、ペルーで調査を実施している考古学者は、文化遺産保護の重要性に関する一般の人々の認識を促すために、様々な方法を模索してきた。そうした試みのなかには、短期間のうちに良好な成果を納めた例はあるものの、彼らの意識を長期間持続させること、または広めることは困難であった。この問題を解決するためには、一般の人々に遺跡保護の必要性を訴える言説が生成される必要がある。その言説は、考古学者による過去の解釈だけではなく、一般の人々による歴史認識をも盛り込んだものでなくてはならない。これまで「パブリック考古学」、特に現地コミュニティと文化遺産に関する研究は、盗掘者とシャーマンを対象としたものが多かった。本研究は、民族誌的分析から両者の関係性を考察する点が特色といえる。考古学調査の実態を明らかにし、さらに考古学者と現地コミュニティの交流の様子も把握することができると考える。ペルーにおいて、このような研究は少ないため、考古学調査が特定地域に与えるインパクトの様相を、初めて明確に提示することができるといえる。特に、これまで一般の人々の考古学への関心の程度や関連性については等閑視されてきたため、本研究で考古学情報を受信する側の視点を提供できる点は独創的である。さらに、本研究は観光業の盛んな地域を対象としており、開発人類学へも大きく貢献すると考える。本研究の特色は、文化遺産の保護とその活用について現地コミュニティの観光業的な観点を含めた新たな指針を提示することである。また、そのような経済活動が、ナショナリズムや教育に与える影響に関しても追究する予定であり、本研究が考古学のみならず広く人類学的領域において多大な意義を持つと考える。平成23年度は、(1)9月23日から25日まで現地でパブリック考古学についてシンポジウムを開き、(2)9月から1月まで第二回現地調査による現地コミュニティーにインタビューを行った。

The purpose of this study is to analyze the understanding of the past, establish the law of "cultural heritage protection" and construct the road to the realization of cultural heritage protection.
