项目摘要

本研究は、ブレア政権時以降の英国映画産業をめぐる体制をモデルとし、映画の撮影地においての観光現象、すなわち、「フィルム・ツーリズム」への期待をきっかけとした日本映画産業独自の「地域・オーディエンス連携モデル」を提案することを目的とした。ブレア政権時以降の英国映画産業の体制は、放送局・政府機関・地域の映画組織等による支援・協働体制とそれに基づいて地域やオーディエンスとの連携で行われる、映画を軸とした様々な展開(「オーディエンス・ディベロップメント」=映画製作者を目指す人々や学生、子供の教育・トレーニングなど、「地域のプロモーション」=ロケ地マップの発行や撮影支援など、「文化保存」=歴史ある映画館の保存、アーカイブ、テーマ性の強い映画祭など)である。本年度の研究においては、「英国映画」の定義について考えることももう一つの課題として追加した。それによって英国映画産業が「ハリウッドへの対抗と依存の歴史」をたどり、政府もまたハリウッドへの対抗策として法や政策を打ち出してきたことが明らかになった。そのうえで、「英国映画」がいったいなにを意味するのか、ということを追究したことによって、多数の映画を英国で製作してきたハリウッドがロンドンなどの大都市や中流階級以上の人々を描き、その他の地域や労働者階級を描くことがほとんどなく、それゆえ「英国らしさ」が地域や労働者階級を描くということとして形成されていったことがわかった。本年度もまた、前年度と同様、約3週間の英国における現地調査を行ったが、前年度が主に首都ロンドンを対象としていたことに対し、本年度はイングランド北部やスコットランドにまで調査地を拡大した。この調査によって、(1)英国における「フィルム・ツーリズム」が政府によって仕組まれたものであること、(2)なかでも、ハリウッド映画に対する観光地への観光を促進することへの期待がわかり、その期待は2010年に発足したキャメロン新内閣においてさらに強まっている。
