项目摘要

本年度は、研究実施計画にあげた三つのテーマ(A:「熟議デモクラシー」「闘技デモクラシー」の再検討、B:政治的判断力論の再検討、C:政治理論の再検討)のうち、B,Cに関して研究を行い、成果を発表したほか、当該計画において最終目的としていた英文単著の完成に向けて研究を進めた。B(政治的判断力論の再検討)については、2012年8月にカナダ、ヴィクトリア大学で開催された国際学会において、"Contentious Nature of Regret : Reflecting upon Japan's Experience in WWII"と題したペーパーを発表した。本ペーパーでは、戦後日本のいわゆる「悔恨共同体」を巡る言説を取り上げ、(1)かかる言説が、現代政治理論における移行的正義ならびに政治的判断力論の研究と通底する問題意識に貫かれていることを指摘した上で、(2)悔恨共同体、移行的正義論、政治的判断力論の全てに共通する問題を明るみに出すため、同時代の「悔恨共同体」に対する小林秀雄の批判を検討した。C(政治理論の再検討)に関しては、2013年3月に米国カリフォルニアで開催された国際学会において"To speak in one's own voice is to speak in cliches : Flaubert's radical criticism of democratic opinion-presentation"と題したペーパーを発表した。フローベールという、政治思想史・理論において従来注目されてこなかった作家を取り上げた本報告では、彼の小説にみられる「リアリズム」が、文学上の様式にとどまらず、政治理論のスタイルにも大きな示唆をもたらしうると論じた。また、本研究課題の最終年度となった今年は、これまでの研究の成果を英文単著としてまとめるべく執筆を進め、原稿を完成させることができた。今後、英語圏の出版社からの刊行を目指したい。
