This research focuses on the localization of Theravada Buddhism in Malaysia, examining the practices of Chinese devotees and monks. Although Malaysia is not traditionally considered as the part of Theravada Buddhism Sphere, there exist the Thai, Burmese and Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhist temples and the practice of Theravada Buddhism tradition which were brought by earlier Thai, Burmese and Sri Lankan immigrants, their monks in the early 20th century. Additionally, the new-established Theravada Buddhist Centers which are founded by the Chinese monks and devotees is the new aspect of the development of Theravada Buddhism in Malaysia in recent years.This research demonstrated the process of the establishment of the Theravada Buddhist Centers and their activities, diversified practices of Chinese monks and devotees as well as the role of them on the development of Theravada Buddhism in Malaysia. To conclude, I would like to say that the new-established Theravada Buddhist Centers founded by the Chinese monks and devotees, as well as the presence of the Chinese devotees have become the considerable part of the localization of Theravada Buddhism in Malaysia.

本研究的重点是小乘佛教在马来西亚的本土化，考察中国信徒和僧侣的实践。虽然马来西亚传统上不被认为是上座部佛教的一部分，但存在泰国，缅甸和斯里兰卡的上座部佛教寺庙和上座部佛教传统的实践，这些传统是由早期的泰国，缅甸和斯里兰卡移民带来的，他们的僧侣在世纪早期。此外，由华人僧人和信众创办的小乘佛教中心是近年来马来西亚小乘佛教发展的新方面，本研究展示了小乘佛教中心的建立过程及其活动，华人僧人和信众的多样化实践以及他们对马来西亚小乘佛教发展的作用。最后，我想说的是，由中国僧侣和信徒建立的小乘佛教中心，以及中国信徒的存在，已经成为小乘佛教在马来西亚本土化的重要组成部分。
