Regulation of gene expression by chromosome condensation protein, condensin

ChIP检测结果表明，在间期核仁的rDNA区域存在凝缩蛋白I和凝缩蛋白II的同型异构体。敲低凝聚蛋白（I或II）导致rRNA区域组蛋白乙酰化增强，表明凝聚蛋白凝聚间期染色质结构并抑制基因表达。我们还发现PP1和PP2A在有丝分裂结束时对凝缩蛋白（I和II）的去磷酸化对于凝缩蛋白从有丝分裂染色体上分离是重要的。

ChIP assay indicated that both isoform of condensin (I and II) presented on the rDNA region in the interphase nucleolus. Knockdown of condensin (I or II) led to enhanced acetylation of histones in rRNA region, suggesting that condensin condenses interphase chromatin structures and suppresses gene expressions. We also found that dephosphorylation of condensin (I and II) by PP1 and PP2A at the exit of mitosis was important for dissociation of condensin from mitotic chromosomes.
