The objective of the research project is to analyze theoretically and empirically the influence of the sense of disparity of individuals on economic growth and regional disparity, together with international comparisons. We had conducted surveys on the determinants of happiness and life satisfaction in Japan and Singapore, and analyzed the data collected. The empirical results showed that the non-zero-sum life goals had very different influences on life satisfaction in these two countries due to different prevailing conditions. Non-zero-sum life goals had large positive influence on life satisfaction in Singapore. In Japan, on the other hand, the influence of non-zero-sum life goals on life satisfaction was not significant. This result offers a highly probable reason for the growing sense of disparity in Japan.

本研究的目的是从理论和实证两方面分析个人贫富差距对经济增长和地区差异的影响，并进行国际比较。我们在日本和新加坡对幸福和生活满意度的决定因素进行了调查，并对收集到的数据进行了分析。实证结果表明，非零和生活目标在两国不同的流行条件下对生活满意度的影响有很大差异。非零和生活目标对新加坡的生活满意度有较大的正向影响。另一方面，在日本，非零和生活目标对生活满意度的影响不显著。这一结果极有可能是日本贫富差距日益加剧的原因。
