A study on industrial districts and the organizational capability of firms

本研究从理论和实证两个角度探讨了促进工业区发展的原因，特别是生物产业的发展。我们在“东海生物制造业集群”的一部分日本爱知县丰桥市进行了定性访谈，得出的结论是，以前的研究所阐明的有助于集群发展的因素确实是促进我们所研究的集群发展的因素。此外，我们发现，由密切相关的人组成的“小溪”可能是促进工业区发展的关键和重要因素。

This study explored the causes to facilitate the development of industrial districts, especially the one of bioindustry, from theoretical and empirical point of views. We conducted qualitative interviews in Toyohashi-shi in Aichi prefecture in Japan that is a part of “Tokai bio-manufacturing cluster,” and came to conclude that the factors contributing to the development of clusters articulated by previous studies are certainly the ones to facilitate the development of the cluster we studied. Also we found that the “creek”, which consists of closely related persons, could be a crucial and important factor that facilitates the advancement of industrial districts.
