We evaluated susceptibility genes/variations for metabolic syndrome and myocardial infarction in Japanese population, which were primarily found by GWAS in western population. We replicated some of their results in different phenotypes of metabolic syndrome, and also found novel gene-environment and gene-gene interactions in Japanese cohort. The effect of risk gene for myocardial infarction may be different between western and Japanese population.
