To assess the role of CXC chemokine receptor CXCR3 and its ligand IP-10 in cutaneous tissue damage by immune complex, the reverse passive cutaneous Arthus reaction was induced in mice lacking CXCR3 and IP-10.Edema and hemorrhage was not significantly attenuated in each deficient mice. Numbers of infiltrating neutrophils and mast cells were not significantly reduced. However, intradermal mRNA expression of IL-6 but not TNF-α was significantly reduced(11%) in CXCR3-deficient mice. Intradermal mRNA expression of IP-10, MIG and I-TAC was comparable, indicating that chemokine production was not influenced in these deficient mice.
