Centromeres are chromosomal regions essential for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis. In this research, we determined molecular organization of Mis16 complex which is essential for centromeric chromatin formation. We identified a histone acetyltransferase and novel centromere proteins as Mis16-interacting proteins. We speculate that the regulation of histone acetylation through Mis16 is vital for centromeric chromatin formation.
