Local management promoted by reorganized agricultural cooperetive-in consideration for making use of regional resources and sustainability of natural environment

The purpose of this research is to show the new model of Japanese agricultural co-operative (agri.coop) that will make a significant contribution for constructing a local society in which environment and economy is able to coexist sustainably. We have done following surveys. (1) Sending out questionnaires to all agri.co-ops. (2) Using WEB, conducting the survey of stuff's opinions. (3) Investigating large merged, small unmerged agri.co-ops, etc. (4) Investigating the Mondragon Co-operative Corporation in Spain. Based on the result, we show the network type agri.co-op model. And we discuss the importance of this type and propose reorganizing the present agri.co-ops as multipurpose agri.co-op to this type. This model consists of two kinds of agri.co-op. One is "community co-op" base on a community,and another is "special purpose co-op" engaging in business. This type of agri.co-op has headquarters and two kinds of agri.co-ops are connected each other through network.
