Creating a New Philosophy for National Development in Knowledge-information Oriented Society

在知识信息社会的今天，日本需要为国家发展创造一种新的哲学。这一哲学应坚持以下原则：利用科学技术促进人类社会与自然的共生，将大开发缩小为人的开发，将强者和中央集权的政策转变为弱势和地方性的政策。为了用联网的城市功能取代大都市功能，横向联网自给自足和分散的小城市是必不可少的。对于小企业来说，培养这样的心态也是至关重要的，这种心态接受无关人员的平稳业务接班，并继续培养人力资源。

In today's knowledge-information oriented society, Japan needs to create a new philosophy for national development. The philosophy should stand by the following principles: to utilize science and technology for human society's co-existing with nature, to downsize large-scale developments into human-scale ones, to change policies for the strong and the centralized to those for the disadvantaged and the local-based. It is essential to horizontally network self-sustaining and decentralized smaller cities in order to replace metropolitan functions with their networked ones. It is also crucial for smaller businesses to develop such mindset that accepts smooth business succession by unrelated people and to keep fostering human resources.
