This study examines the role of national machinery in gender mainstreaming policies in South Korea. The UN women's conference in 1995 proposed that national government set up a national level policy agency to oversee and support gender mainstreaming of all national policies. Following this proposal, South Korea established the Ministry of Gender Equality in 2001, then expanded to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2004. Yet the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is not equipped with necessary authority, professional staff or enough resources to implement the task. It is also vulnerable to the change of government and political environment.

这项研究考察了国家机构在韩国社会性别主流化政策中的作用。1995年联合国妇女大会建议国家政府设立一个国家级政策机构，以监督和支持将性别观点纳入所有国家政策的主流。根据这一提议，韩国于2001年成立了两性平等部，然后在2004年扩大到两性平等和家庭部。然而，两性平等和家庭部没有配备必要的权力、专业人员或足够的资源来执行这项任务。它也容易受到政府和政治环境变化的影响。
