主要課題であるモンテーニュの研究については、博士論文をおよそ八割がた完成させ、提出のめどが立ちつつある。具体的には、自己について語る歴史家とモンテーニュのエクリチュールとの関係を明らかにした。古代のカエサルやクセノフォン、モンテーニュに近い時代のコミーヌやデュ・ベレー兄弟からジャック・オーギュスト・ドゥ・トゥーやアウリッパ・ドービニェに至る、回想録を著した歴史家たちである。そこでは、修辞学の枠組みの中で行われる公式の歴史記述とは反対に、自分の経験したありのままの出来事を潤色抜きの簡潔な文体で表すような「裸の歴史」が奨励された。それらは、建前としては無視無欲な視点から同時代の重要な出来事を記述し、公式の歴史記述に材料を提供するものとされるが、実際は、自己の近親者や後世に対して自分の行動を弁疏するという意図をしばしば持っていた。16世紀を通じて次第に盛んになっていったこのようなジャンルとの比較から、『エセー』における、文体の選択、作者としての自己正当化、想定する読者との関わり方、といった問題を解明した。2012年度にはまた、16世紀フランスの歴史記述のあり方をより広い視点から捉えるべく、二つの論文を発表した。一つは、アンリ二世の王室修士官であったピエール・パスカルと、時に彼の友人であり時に彼と反目したプレイヤード派の詩人たち及びその周辺の文学者たち(ロンサール、デュ・ベレー、オリヴィエ・マニー、アドリアン・トゥルネブス、エチェンヌ・パーキエなど)とのやり取りから、世紀中葉の、キケロ主義的な歴史記述からの転換点を明らかにした。もう一つは、同世紀末の法曹歴史家の代表的な一人であるニコラ・ヴィニエの『歴史叢書』に関する論文である(2013年3月時点では未刊行)。これは、シチリアのディオドロスの同名の書から名を取ったものであるが、世紀後半における、人類の過去すべてを網羅しようとする「全体史」への指向と、フランス王権の文献学と歴史研究に基づいた顕揚という二つの方向性が、いかに緊張感をはらみつつ共存しているかを明らかにした。
