The effect of direct renin inhibitor in the progression of rat crescentic glomerulonephritis model

To examine whether aliskiren ameliorate renal injury in crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN), we investigated renal injury in rat crescentic GN model treated with aliskiren. As a result, aliskiren reduced % glomerular crescent and proteinuria, and also, aliskiren suppressed renal expression of MCP-1. These data suggest therapeutic strategy of aliskiren may prove beneficial for crescentic GN by the RAS activation and the decrease of inflammation in crescentic GN.
