项目摘要

本研究は、鎌倉末期から室町初期までの約百年間にわたる社会変動（14世紀内乱）の具体相を、多面的・総合的に考察・把握することを試みるものである。一昨年度は守護権力の形成過程について研究を進め、続いて昨年度は、多様な地域権力の存在を踏まえた室町幕府支配体制の形成史の研究に取り組んできた。(1)上記の研究を進めていくなかで、守護権力にとどまらない多様な地域権力の存在を組み込んだ、新たな室町幕府支配体制形成史の叙述が必要であること、従来の室町幕府守護制度研究にはその手法を含めて根本的に見直していくことが必要であることを認識するにいたった。そこで今年度は、室町幕府の指令執行手続である「使節遵行」を素材に、上記の課題に取り組んだ。ここでは守護制度を支配体制の基軸に据えようとする室町幕府の志向性を見出すとともに、政治情勢や地域的偏差により、不断に「守護と同様に振る舞う」地域権力が生み出される構造を析出し、室町幕府の地域支配は守護支配を基軸としつつも、地域的・時期的偏差が生じていくことになるとの見通しを提示した。以上の成果は、2014年9月に古文書学会学術大会（於、三重県）において「守護制度と使節遵行との関係の再検討　―南北朝期室町幕府の地域支配に関する一考察―」と題して口頭報告を行い、現在論文として投稿中である。(2)昨年度投稿した「南北朝期室町幕府の地域支配と有力国人層」が史学会発行の『史学雑誌』123編10号（2014年10月）に掲載された。また、同じく「南北朝期における河野通盛の動向と伊予守護職」も日本歴史学会発行の『日本歴史』798号（同年11月）に掲載された。(3)関連する論考として、史学会の依頼を受け、大薮海氏の著書『室町幕府と守護権力』（吉川弘文館、2013年）の書評を執筆した（掲載決定済）。
