项目摘要

本研究は①接触場面における日本語学習者のコミュニケーション・ストラテジー(以下CS)の使用実態の究明及び日本語教育への応用と②CS使用の意識面の特徴の究明を目的としている。①に関してはこれまで個別の現象の観察と記述が中心であったが、平成25年度は、今まで観察されてきた現象を包括的に整理し、総合的なCS研究の理論構築を試みた。②に関しては平成25年度の重要課題として進める予定であったが、①の現象の整理と新たに発見した現象(接触場面における日本語学習者の聞き返し連鎖の使用)の観察と記述及び日本語教育への応用といった研究活動に多くの時間を費やすことになり、十分な時間を充てることができず、英語教育分野における関連文献の調査に留まった。具体的には以下に報告する。①は、今まで別々に研究されてきた発話ストラテジーと聞き返しストラテジーについて、学習者が単独で問題解決を行うか、相手との共同で問題解決を行うかという視点で考察した結果、発話産出上の問題であれ、発話聴解上の問題であれ、相手の力を借りて問題解決を行わなければならない際に、学習者は明示的な言語表現より、フィラーや言いよどみ、感動詞など、実質的な意味が希薄な表現を使った非明示的なものを優先的に使用する傾向があり、学習者のCS使用には日本語能力の高低を問わず、コミュニケーションにおける発話の「経済性」と「ポライトネス」の原則などが大きく関わっていることが明らかとなった。また「聞き返し連鎖」という現象に関しては、先行研究では円滑なコミュニケーションの妨げになるとの理由で、マイナス的な捉え方が主流であったが、本研究では、聞き返し連鎖の内部構造を詳細に分析した結果、連鎖には様々なパターンがあり、それらのパターンを区別する必要があることを述べ、日本語教育の現場で問題視すべきなのは円滑なコミュニケーションを阻害してしまう同じタイプの聞き返しの連続使用であるという提言を行った。②は、英語教育分野における関連研究の調査に留まったが、同じ英語学習者でも言語文化による相違があることが報告されているため(Yaman and Kavasoglu2013)、日本語学習者にも言語文化による相違があり得ることが予想される。この点は今後さらに研究していきたい。
